Number of Young People Supported

200

Project name: CashBack: On The Edge of Belonging

Age range: 12-25 years

CashBack: On the Edge of Belonging will be delivered in Inverclyde to support young people aged 12 – 25 who are involved in, or at risk of becoming involved in, conflict with the law. The project will work with young people affected by school exclusion, violence, exploitation, poverty, and repeated breakdowns in support.

Delivery will be based on flexible engagement and trusted relationships. Young people will be able to access one-to-one support, small group work, peer-led sessions, and structured activities depending on what works best for them and their families. Support will be open-ended, allowing young people to engage at their own pace and return to the service when needed over the three-year delivery period.

Weekly one-to-one sessions will be delivered in a safe community setting and will focus on helping young people understand their behaviour, manage conflict, build confidence, and make safer choices. Progress will be reviewed regularly to support stability and positive change. Alongside this, a six-week group programme, EDGES, which will provide structured support focused on confidence, boundaries, personal safety, relationships, and strengths.

For young people who find traditional systems difficult, sport-based sessions will offer a consistent and positive way to engage, combining physical activity with trusted adults and clear expectations, along with easy drop-in routes.

Families will also be offered ongoing, non-judgemental support to strengthen relationships and help sustain positive change at home. The project will be delivered locally, shaped by young people’s experiences, and focused on reducing harm, increasing safety, and building belonging for young people and their families.
