Project name: CashBack Off The Bench

Age range: 18-25 years

CashBack Off the Bench is a life skills programme for young people aged 16-25. Using the unique power of professional football to engage those hardest to reach, our 8 week programme is delivered 3 days per week, at 5 football clubs.

The programme includes:

  • Learning and physical activity
Our sessions are a mix of class work and physical activity.
  • Free football kit and meals
We provide football kit for all young people who participate, as well as breakfast for those who need it, and lunch for all.
  • Opportunity to achieve qualifications
We support participants to achieve qualifications including SQA qualifications, Sports Leader Awards, SFA coaching badges, and Saltire Volunteering Awards. Participants also design and deliver a community citizenship project.
  • Visits from Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Services
Local police and fire services officers attend in plain clothes, working with and empowering our participants, fostering positive community relations.

Each participant also has the opportunity to join a celebration event at Hampden, including workshops led by partner organisations such as Fast Forward, Leap Scotland, SAMH and Show Racism the Red Card, and a football tournament.
