Age range: 18 – 24 years
Number of Young People Project expects to work with: 240
Cashback Off The Bench is a 16 week programme for young people aged 18-24, which will be delivered by 5 Scottish Professional Football League Club Trusts within their local communities. With support from key partners Police Scotland, Scottish Fire & Rescue and the Procurator Fiscal, trained coaches will work to encourage positive behaviour change in areas such as, but not limited to, alcohol and drug consumption, anti-social behaviour, sectarianism and racism.
Participants will also improve their employability skills, attainment level, physical activity and mental wellbeing through engaging and motivating workshops delivered by clubs and additional partners. Meanwhile, participants will improve their football skills, have the chance to take part in an annual football event and complete a meaningful community project of their own design.
All of this will be delivered within SPFL stadiums, giving participants a unique insight into the inner workings of professional football, the chance to become part of the football family and to volunteer within the world of football. We will work closely with colleagues at the SFA to ensure participants can benefit from broader CashBack delivery within football, to deliver consistent and complimentary messaging and align evaluations.
Areas where project will be delivered:
Dundee: Dundee FC Community Trust
Edinburgh: Big Hearts Community Trust
Falkirk: Falkirk FC Community Trust
Motherwell: Motherwell FC Community Trust
Paisley: St Mirren FC Community Trust
