Project name: CashBack to the Future
Age range: 12-25 years
Using a range of different fun, positive creative activities, CashBack to the Future works with young people aged 12-25 at risk of involvement in anti-social or criminal behaviour. The project provides young people with their own creative safe space where they can express themselves free of judgement and make new friends, combating boredom and isolation which can lead to negative behaviours.
Through taking part, young people’s wellbeing will improve and they will better understand their own strengths, alongside gaining different transferrable skills and accreditations (SCQF Levels 3 or 4). Each young person also benefits from our many different partnerships with community groups and partner organisations, trips to outdoor and cultural spaces, and volunteering opportunities, as well as leading on the programme’s design, supporting young people to become positive influences and leaders amongst peers and community members.
Working with up to 15 young people per group, CashBack to the Future takes an early intervention approach in both our own and outreach venues, including:
1. CashBack Summer 2 groups in Glasgow; 1 in Edinburgh/North Lanarkshire/North Ayrshire, running for 3 days per week over 5 weeks. Each young person can attend all three days.
2. CashBack Hubs running across the year outwith Summer for between 1 and 3 days per week in Glasgow, Edinburgh, North Ayrshire, and North Lanarkshire. Young people attend for up to 3 half-day sessions per week.
In addition, the project delivers music-making workshops 1 day per week year-round at HMP YOI Polmont.
