Project name: CashBack and musicALL: Banding Together
Age range: 14-25 years
CashBack & musicALL: Banding Together is a music project for disabled and neurodivergent young people in Glasgow, aged 14 to 25, who may feel isolated, face barriers to joining in with activities, or have had their learning disrupted.
We offer young people a safe place to go, something positive to focus on, and people to spend time with- reducing boredom and frustration and helping young people stay connected through music.
Throughout the school year, young people can participate in small-group band sessions at fully accessible studios in Glasgow. Over 10-week blocks, they learn instruments, sing, write songs, rehearse and create music together.
No experience is needed, just an interest in giving it a go. Sessions are relaxed, welcoming and supportive, led by experienced tutors who understand different communication styles and support needs.
Through making music and performing together, young people grow in confidence and begin to see the difference they can make. They support one another, share ideas, and step up within their bands- building the skills and self-belief to be positive role models in their families, schools and communities. During the summer holidays, we will offer extended music projects to keep young people connected at a time when many feel most alone.
Throughout the year, young people will have opportunities to showcase their talents at musicALL gigs in some of Glasgow’s iconic music venues- an exciting, empowering moment where young people are seen, heard and celebrated.
