Project name: Riddrie is Thriving due to CashBack

Age range: 10-25 years

Riddrie Is Thriving Due To CashBack offers high quality universal youth work provision in the community of Riddrie & Carntyne. The project provides a positive alternative to drugs and alcohol, reducing crime and anti-social behaviour, by providing youth clubs for and with local young people aged 10 to 25.

Working with partners in education, local policing, elected members and led by local residents and young people, the project focuses on youth leadership. This is based on the Mentors In Violence Prevention model, designed to reduce hate and crime within the community. Young people are trained to undertake the bystander approach, supporting the community to tackle long-standing issues around substance abuse and hatred, such as increased violence and aggression towards shopkeepers and residents.

The project runs activities during and after school hours, especially at weekends, helping young people develop their potential through leading activities. Activities will be primarily focused around the hotspots identified by the police and local community, creating universal youthwork that is missing from this part of the city of around 1000 young people.

Giving young people a space to give back to their community and peers, the project supports young people to lead positive change in their community.
