Project name: CashBack City Bridges
Age range: 10-25 years
CashBack City Bridges expands Hot Chocolate Trust’s proven work growing community with young people aged 10-25 in Dundee city centre and progressively building their positive connections and influence. Blending universal and targeted approaches, the project will build bridges between young people and their city, their community, and their future through two interweaving streams:
SAFE PLACES will engage the widest range of young people in Dundee city centre, proactively connecting with the most vulnerable/those engaging in anti-social behaviours, to build trusting relationships as foundations to shape positive paths together. Consistent open youth work will provide a base for belonging and responsive support, enabling young people to take new steps towards getting help, taking up responsibility, and positively impacting their city. Regular pioneering street work will meet young people where they are, building trust and new relationships. Community activity partnerships will create fun, rewarding engagements between young people and wider city centre stakeholders, generating ownership and mutual understanding.
CONNECTIONS & INFLUENCE will co-create actions with young people to take up their place in their city. Individuals will be supported to find the resources to meet their diverse complex needs and take positive steps forward. Creative arts partnerships will centre young people’s leadership and agency, extending trust with diverse adults and empowering young people to positively impact their community. These projects, growing in scale and ambition, will promote mutual care and belonging; reinterpret how young people occupy public spaces; explore their physical environment/just transitions; and move towards developing a new paradigm of participatory city leadership together.
