Project name: CashBack Compass – Navigation, Choice, New Direction
Age range: 14-25 years
Every young person has potential – sometimes they just need the right person, at the right time, to help them see it.
We support 150 young people aged 14-25 across North Aberdeenshire, prioritising areas of highest need including Fraserburgh and Peterhead, who are at risk of homelessness, harm, or conflict with the law. A two-tier approach combines early intervention with more intensive relational support. Young people are nominated in partnership with and including: Aberdeenshire Council Housing, Youth Justice, and Alcohol and Drug Partnership Teams.
Participants are matched with a Development Coach providing consistent 1:1 support. This trusted relationship is the foundation for everything that follows. Young people have at least two sessions weekly, including 1:1, group work and activities – creating routine, building trust and allowing us to respond quickly if challenges escalate.
Activity based engagement helps young people connect, express themselves and feel part of something positive. Activities are guided by their strengths, interests and aspirations – helping them explore alternative pathways.
Our in-house counsellor and Educational Psychologist provide specialist, trauma-informed support, helping young people safely explore past experiences, understand emotional responses and develop strategies to manage relationships, behaviour and stress.
Young people have access to Foyer bursaries – to help with essentials and exploring opportunities that matter to them. As confidence and stability grow, young people try out other Foyer programmes including learning, training and employability.
We work with community partners, helping young people build positive networks beyond the project, supporting long-term stability, connection and independence.
