Project name: CashBack VOW Project and Turn Your Life Around with CashBack
Age range: 10-25 years
We reduce offending amongst young people aged 10-25 in Edinburgh through the combined efforts of police officers working alongside peer mentors. Our partnerships are key to achieving this, allowing us to connect in with physical and mental health support, housing, addiction services, and training and employability services.
The project has two strands:
CashBack VOW Project
The VOW Project provides intensive support to remove young people from the criminal justice system and support them onto positive destinations. We do this by:
- Creating a unique plan, tailored to suit the young person’s needs
- Using the lived experience of peer mentors to enhance understanding of consequences of negative decisions
- Supporting physical and mental health, including providing counselling where appropriate
- Providing alternative therapeutic services as an alternative to counselling
- Connecting with partners to enhance personal skills and improve employability
Turn Your Life Around with CashBack
Our VOW Project team work with City of Edinburgh Council to deliver sessions with school pupils. Peer mentors and Turn Your Life Around volunteers share their lived experience to raise awareness of trauma and adversity, and the consequences of negative behaviours.
