CashBack Portfolio Day

18th September 2023

The 29 CashBack for Communities Phase 6 Partners gathered together to share programme progress and development, share best practice, and to encourage collaboration.

CashBack for Communities is a unique Scottish Government programme which reinvests criminal assets recovered through the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) and invests in projects delivering positive futures for our young people.  The programme has strong links to the Scottish Government’s Vision for Justice in Scotland.

Community Safety Minister, Siobhian Brown MSP, thanked CashBack For Communities partner organisations for their hard work and dedication in supporting young people to reach their potential.

We are committed to providing opportunities that deliver positive futures for our young people.

Siobhian Brown MSP, Minister for Victims and Community Safety

Representatives from Inspiring Scotland, Station House Media Unit, Bethany Christian Trust, Scottish Football Association, Edinburgh Young Carers, Scottish Sports Futures, Youth Scotland, Scottish Government, Barnardo’s Scotland, and Cyrenians delivered presentations on a range of topics. Commenting on the session focused on Children’s Rights, Cliff Graham from Barnardo’s Scotland, said:

I certainly got a lot out of [the Children’s Rights] session and learnt a huge amount from the rest of the day. There are plenty of things to reflect on as we move forward.

Cliff Graham, Head of Operations, Barnardo’s Scotland

Partners also engaged in sessions on Support and Collaboration, Storytelling, and Inspiring Scotland’s Specialist Volunteer Network.

I really enjoyed the day and it was so good to meet up with other CashBack portfolio partners. A lot of really useful information throughout the day and excellent presentations – congratulations on an incredibly successful event.

Chrissie Simpson, shmu Support Team Manager

We really enjoyed the day as a whole, the information from all presenters was informative and thought provoking, we certainly left brimming with enthusiasm to deliver fantastic projects.

Shelley MacKenzie, shmu Youth Services Manager

CashBack Partners enjoyed an impactful Portfolio Day.

It was a great event and was good that we can all be back together again as I think it makes a real difference. I find the whole Inspiring Scotland/CashBack team a massive support, our project and the development of our game would not be anywhere near as good without the support we have had over the years.

Paul McNeill, Head of Community Football, Scottish Football Association

Many thanks for creating and delivering a great event for the CashBack Phase 6 portfolio day. The portfolio is incredibly strong and capable, and will do great things for young people, individually as CashBack partners, and collectively. As ever, it was inspiring to meet and hear directly from our partners and their stories of helping young people to make positive change in their lives.
