School of Football

A social and academic programme designed to use football as a tool to engage with S1 – S2 pupils from areas of social deprivation. 22 schools and 608 pupils are involved in daily football coaching.

Physical education teacher at Govan High School, Gordon Reid, said:

We’re now in our second year of the programme and I have seen it grow to become a hugely positive influence, not only within the school, but within the community.

It’s one of the best projects I have worked on in my career. It does what it says on the tin – it’s a tool that motivates the young people to come to school and enjoy it.
