G4S Street Rugby Referral Programme

Scottish Rugby works with schools guidance staff, youth work and police to identify young people aged 14-19 with specific behavioural, social or learning needs, who are referred to us to take part in intensive 8-12 week programmes to learn to play and coach rugby, and to develop their leadership skills and positive behaviours. The programmes use rugby as a development tool combined with structured educational input from community partners. The educational inputs aim to improve participants’ social development, outlook, lifestyle, and health.

Following successful pilots in Fife and Inverclyde during 2010-11, Scottish Rugby has delivered the programme in many areas including Stirling, Clackmannanshire, South Ayrshire, East Lothian, Angus and Dundee.
