Shell Twilight Basketball (TBB) provides young people free weekly basketball sessions across Scotland wiht an active alternative to the streets, at times when they need it most.
The programme builds healthy, trusting and supportive relationships as a platform to introduce topics such as conflict resolution, body awareness, respect and tolerance. Weekly sessions are held in areas identified as suffering youth disorder issues and are open to all young people aged between 10 and 21.
“Educational Timeouts” tackle relevant lifestyle topics and introduce inspirational role models. Shell Twilight utilises SSF’s connection with the Glasgow Rocks to bring professional basketball players to sessions assisting with coaching and encouraging the aspirations of participants.
The Shell Twilight concept brings basketball together with personal and social development. Energetic sessions are delivered by qualified coaches and youth workers. Participants include diverse nationalities (14 nationalities recorded in 1 Glasgow Twilight location)and often rivalling communities. New friendships are established and horizons broadened.
