Gateway to Employability

Gateway to Employment is a bespoke employability project aimed at young people aged 16-24 with a focus on those who have offended or are at risk of (re) offending. The project will provide opportunities for young people from target communities with greatest incidents of anti-social behaviour and crime to access a range of positive activities designed to move them into positive destinations, such as, personal development opportunities, further or higher education, volunteering or jobs.

Gateway to Employment will provide developmental opportunities that will increase confidence and self-esteem, change behaviours and attitudes and improve physical and mental wellbeing.

We will use the brand of Celtic FC as a motivational engagement and delivery tool to reach those most disengaged from the labour market. Celtic Park will host the project and provide a positive, fun and engaging environment for young people to learn. Celtic FC Foundation will use its experienced specialist coaching staff to bring their expertise in delivering a variety of community based projects and physical activity.

Through their existing partnership with Apex Celitc FC Foundation will bring together the complimentary skills and strengths of delivery partners and use these to provide more effective and joined up support resulting in better outcomes for the project. Through Apex’s partnership with Community Safety Glasgow Gateway to Employability will be able to identify young people who are being reported to the Police for various minor offences, helping to target those who may be starting to offend and are on the peripheries of anti-social behaviour.

8 courses will be run annually with referrals made by Apex and 16+ Opportunities for All co-ordinator.
