Target Group – Young people disadvantaged by: –

  • Living in areas of deprivation; and
  • Being unemployed, not in education or training; and
  • Being excluded, or at risk of exclusion from school; and

Age range : 10 to 24 years

Number of Young People the project expects to work with : 17,500

Summary of Project

The programme will consist of 3 specific strands:-

Jump2It will deliver health and wellbeing messages to primary schools covering areas such as alcohol awareness, knife crime, bullying etc. The programme will be supported by inspirational sporting role models who will help to communicate the key messages to 10,500 young people over the 3-year period. A new volunteering arm will provide meaningful training and placements. Schools will also receive bespoke roadshows, basketball coaching and will be invite to attend tournaments.

The Twilight Basketball programme offers weekly diversionary basketball activity and will engage over 4500 young people across 29 locations over the 3-year period. The programme will incorporate bespoke programmes of training and volunteering for identified and referred high risk groups of young people. Ambassadors will support delivery of the sessions, offering personal development plans, residential training and mentoring support.

Active East/Education Though CashBack will provide accredited sport for change training to 2400 referred young people over the 3-year period, with identified interest in sport and physical activity. In addition, support will be provided to CashBack partners. Peer educators will be supported with bespoke young leaders courses in partnership with YOMO and local youth providers. Employment pathways will be identified for those at risk of being NEET.
